Many people have some level of gum disease. One of the early signs of gum disease is blood when you spit after brushing.
Your gums are like cushions for your teeth. They surround the tooth from crown to root in the jaw and help support a healthy mouth. Looking after your gums is just as important as looking after your teeth and, without thorough and effective brushing and cleaning, gum disease can occur. These are the stages of gum disease:
- Gingivitis: inflamed gums, bleeding while brushing. Damage is reversible at this stage
- Periodontitis: supporting bone and fibres damaged, pain and discomfort when eating. Requires care to prevent further deterioration
- Advanced Periodontitis: teeth can become mobile and uncomfortable. Eventually, this can lead to tooth loss which affects how well you chew and has a negative effect on the appearance of your teeth
Fortunately, these conditions can be avoided by attending regular hygiene visits. At Ramani Dental Studio, our hygienists carefully remove the plaque and hard calculus that deposits on the teeth and causes gum disease. They advise you on how to maintain a good, daily oral hygiene routine to keep your teeth and gums in pristine condition.020 8651 0444 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
